3/31/07:These circles (actually rings) appeared on March 27, 2007 at the KCXL radio tower field. The engineer at KCXL radio called me this afternoon (March 29) and said they had crop circles in the field around their tower. No one else has been out to the location. I took my daughter and we took photos and measurements as well as samples of the grass in the rings and outside the rings. These are odd, in that they are actually rings of really good, thick green grass that measures up to 12" tall, while the surrounding grass and grass inside the circles is just growing at approximately 3" - 5" tall like the rest of the grass in the city. Some are complete circles, some are half circles. I count five rings of various sizes from 13' across to 70' across, and the width of the outside rings vary from 12" to 36". I see nothing that has been knocked down like the "standard" crop circle. The owner of the station told me he first noticed them on Tuesday, March 27 and that he has never seen anything like it in the 15 years that he has owned the property. He told me they only mow the field and that has not been done yet this year, and that they have never fertilized anything. As my daughter and I drove home past farm fields we looked to see if there were any rings in other locations and saw none. The smaller circles are almost perfect and the larger circles are not perfect. 4/4/07: Note- we are taking soil samples to test for fungus soon and I will post the results here.
Photo #1: All circles taken from the parking lot at the station.

helicopter. 4/23/07 Update: Soil testing is now being completed by a local lab. 1-2-08: An expert in fungus rings has
informed us that while unusually large, these are indeed "fairy rings,"
which are fungus/mushroom rings. Rings are usually 1-4 feet in
diameter, and the 68' diameter ring especially is very large and unusual,
but it can happen. |
